Environmental funerals

Eco-friendly funerals that are good for the environment

Greener choices

Our services include options for people who are conscious of their impact on the environment; caskets made from renewable sources and embalming, cremation and burial options. At Marsden House Funeral Services we believe in eco-friendly practices; our commitment is to obtain the lowest carbon footprint possible. Across all our practices, we believe what we have to offer is the best available in New Zealand.

As an example, the most suitable material for caskets is untreated pine, with a biodegradable liner and trim. This renewable resource breaks down naturally, with no harmful emissions and pine uses considerably less fuel in the cremation process than cardboard caskets.

It can be confusing with so many mixed messages about what positively or negatively affects the environment — talk to us about how our practices are both environmentally aware and beneficial.

Annual tree planting memorial day

Much anticipated every year is our annual tree planting memorial day. It’s a special way for loved ones to remember the legacy of those they have lost, as well as being something positive for the environment and community.
